Chazzano Coffee

Frank Lanzkron-Tamarazo was a Jewish Cantor living in Wilmette Illinois. While his day job was as a Chazzan (the Hebrew word for cantor), his passion was roasting his own coffee. One year, for his birthday, I designed him a label and logo for his coffee, which I named Chazzano: a nod to his profession, and a subtle homage to Italian coffee brands like Lavazza. It was also a reference to Frank’s Sicilian ancestry, something he is very proud of. I also created a tagline: “Good coffee makes you sing.”

Not long after, Frank moved to the Detroit area and decided to open his own roasting facility and cafe. I then designed a brochure, some promotional items and as well as some ads and posters. Today, Chazzano is one of the largest and most successful coffee roasters in Michigan.
